Cooking as Jazz

Don't you find cooking is sometimes like playing jazz?

Somebody introduces a melody (e.g. a recipe for an original Greek moussaka from the web), then you listen to a few variations (other web recipes, Bobby Flay is good for adding bells and whistles), and then it's your turn to do a riff on the theme. Sometimes it works, sometimes the audience is just confused by your attempt.

My friend Lisa offers an extension to the metaphor, "Mine is always like jazz fusion. No one understands it and I've forgotten what the original song sounds like."

Great comparison, and sometimes my dinners are also like a night at the Inprov ☺.

My husband often finishes his dinner, comment on how delicious it was, and then he says, "You'll never remember how you made this, will you?"

That's why he likes me doing MFP: I can make it again because I write it all down!

    Me, too!

When I hit a home run, my family has begged me to write it down before I forget.

They usually have this skeptical look, though. Peer at it with one eye closed and take a TEENY piece in case I hid something new in there.

Frim Fram sauce is on my inspirational play list.
