Upper Back Pain?

Hey everyone. About a week ago, while doing jumping jacks, I had an intense, stabbing pain in my upper back. It is the worst when I do jumping jacks. But any kind of bouncing can make it flare. It doesn't hurt doing every day things. However, it's gotten to the point that doing crunches hurts it, or weight lifting. I don't want to make it any worse, and I've called my Dr. to set up an appointment, but it isn't for another week. Any one have any idea what caused this? Did I throw it out? Can I stretch it out or do anything for it?
