I thought I was going to come here to whine today

I'm not new to the calorie counting world and have battled weight my entire life. Despite knowing that this is a lifetime endeavor, I've been in denial about the importance of monitoring my food intake for the past two years... not weighing myself or logging my food... and was rewarded with a 40 lb. weight gain. (If I look back and am honest about it, I think doing Whole30 is what got me off course.)

I rededicated myself 18 days ago and have been weighing and measuring my food and logging my calories (and have an 18 day streak to show for it)! I finally got the courage to weigh in last Friday.

Today, I was rewarded with 2.1 pounds loss. And that's without restricting any of the foods I love.

Honestly, I fully expected to come here whining and lamenting that this process does not work and that I obviously have to do something drastic to lose weight. I may change my tune next week, but at least for today, I am respecting the process.

And, I finally feel willing and able to introduce myself.

Congratulations! It totally works. It may take some "tweeking" here and there but basiclly it is CICO. If you are not losing, decrease your calorie goal, if you are losing too quickly, increase it. Last summer I was maintaining at 1800 cals/day. Now I am maintaining at around 1500. (probably due to sedentary winter) Great job and best of luck!
