I'm not ready for the runs I signed up for last year!

So last year I was much more fit: running regularly and working out. Between a job change and starting my life over in a different city, I've completely stopped all of my exercise. I've also gained about 10lbs. Last year I signed up for 5Ks and a half marathon – both of them are now less than eight weeks away. I am completely freaking out! Anyone have any words of advice of how I can "train" while not killing myself getting back into it, and also maintaining my motivation?

You can do the 5K easily after 8 weeks of doing Couch to 5K. I would suggest skipping the half marathon and plan for one further down the line. One good thing about running is even if you take some time off, your body seems to remember running. I took 4 months off due to hip pain and was able to get up and running even further in less than a month when I started back.0
