Eating right, working out and not losing anything

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help? I am 23 year old female and about 250lbs and 5ft 7 - for just under a month I have really been making a concerted effort to lose weight. I'm eating right (around1200-1300 calories a day) and exercising for 1-2 hours 5/6 days a week. At my size, I was kind of expecting to see a difference, but nope, nada, nothing has changed.

In a regular workout I spend around 15 minutes on the treadmill, 60 mins on elliptical and then an hour class of Body Combat. I also do a variety of weights.

Does anyone know why I'm not seeing ANY results at all :(

  • You are definitely not eating enough.
  • I'm really hoping to drop some weight fast though - in the past when I've eaten more, I just gain more weight :( Can anyone help?

Are you logging everythin truthfully? (anything that goes in need to be logged... no matter how small, or how you think people will judge)

Are you weighing everything before you eat it? (after all how can you track what your eating if your not weighing it... eye weighing dosnt count, neither does some in one hand and some in the other hand, then eating the one that weighs the lesser)

    Are you drinking enough water?

Iv been going for about 30 days now, i do 30-40 mins on the cross trainer 5 nights out of 7, and walk the other 2 days. Im on 1290 calories and i eat back the majority of my work out.... some nights im eating 1600 calories.

    Iv lost 9lbs.
  • I'm so jealous! Yes, I'm completely accurate with weights, and I enter everything which touches my lips -

On an average day I have

Breakfast: 1 large skimmed latte and greek yoghurt
Lunch: Smoothie made with 1 banana, skimmed milk and ice
Dinner: 2 slices of smoked salmon and spinach salad with an avocado half.

I drink on average 10 8oz glasses of water and only drink water throughout the day

That amount that you have posted there surely dosnt amount to 1200 calories?

I sadly could eat that in one sitting then sit wondering where the next part of my meal is!

Do you eat back any calories you have burned?

I think im going to agree with mehearty and say your not eating enough!

If this is truly all you're eating, it's not enough. Two of those meals are snacks and you aren't even hitting 1000 calories.

The trendy thing to do is to tell you that you're not eating enough, but it's also possible that you're exercising too much. An hour of eliptical AND body combat? More exercise isn't always better. The hour of body combat is probably enough without the need for an hour of eliptical. The weight isn't going to all come off at once. Slow and steady wins the race. You don't want to cross into the realm of overtraining.

Dollars to donuts, you aren't eating what you think you are eating.

You're probably eating more than you think and/or exercising less than you believe. Weigh and measure your food. Eat only foods whose calorie content you know.

Actually eating 1200 calories for a month at 250 lbs while exercising and not seeing any result would be highly irregular.

what do you mean by "I'm not seeing ANY results at all" have you lost any weight, inches? I doubt nothing has happened from reading this post your trying to lose quickly and therefore disappointed in the results. Please dont say that eating right and working out is not doing anything just because its not meeting your unrealistic expectations.

There is no need to do all that for a workout, either the body combat class OR the elliptical doing both just seems too much. A longer workout won't mean faster results. Eat more meals(smaller portions of course) drink water and give yourself more time.

Eat more, and I know it's difficult to up your calories. I just went from 1300 a day to 1600 for the same reasons. Just gotta adjust to what works for you.

Completely agree with the first part, and part of the second. The number of meals (frequency) isn't as important as the number of calories. I've had success following a diet with 5-7 small meals AND similar success following a diet with 3-4 normal sized meals.

Glad you had the courage to post! Keep up your hard work, weight loss is never easy. I struggle alot when I don't see instant results. I'm only 5 days in this time and nothing's budged-so I have unrealistic expectations, LOL. I do agree with several of the folks on here, I think you need to bump up the calories (1500-1600?). Try to add a little more lean protein (chicken, turkey, eggs) might keep you feeling fuller longer and give your body the boost it needs. Good luck!
