Given the hangover I am trying to recover from, I'm in.0

I'm in.0

I want to be a part of this, too.0

I'm in! It's awesome how many people are on board with this!0
-
I need it. The forums are killing me. Seriously, I could use a dry month - at least a couple of weeks.0

I stopped drinking on may 1st!!! I've become a hermit and don't go out in order to avoid drinking. I'm simply incapable of hanging out without having at least 1 glass of wine....So i just go to work and to the gym.0

How did everyone do over the weekend?
Me and my partner kept mentioning it all weekend, torturing ourselves. It's funny how you want what you've said you can't have!
I think yesterday was probably the worst so far, we had a delicious fillet steak for dinner, and as I opened the fridge to get bbq sauce for the wedges, the beer was definitely calling my name. Beer and Steak were meant to be together!
However I didn't go over my calories this week, and I think I can attribute that to no alcohol!0 -
I know this thread has been going for a while but I thought I would join in. I'm 6 weeks dry on Friday. Happy to continue until June 20, which is my birthday. Then the plan is to go dry again until December 3rd, husbands 30th birthday. After that I don't know...will re-evaluate when we get there
Good luck everyone0 -
I've done well, no booze all weekend and none since I started this. This weekend will be more of a challenge though. Hoping I can manage the month.0

I did well...no drinking for a month for me! My family came to my house yesterday for Mother's Day and my sister was totally bummed that I didn't have my usual jug o' wine chilling in the fridge. My husband gave her pretty much every bottle of unopened wine we had in our cabinet (red wine that I never drank)...she was psyched!0

Well, I totally forgot about this, but back on the wagon today!0
-
nope, i have lost over 120 pounds an i have drinks 3 out of Saturdays every month.0

But if it helps you attain your goal, all the more power to you.0

Another weekend over, more temptation ignored. How did you all do? I see a few folk who added me as friends did a little wagon falling this week!
I was away on a mini trip to Scotland this weekend where we had left some beer at the cottage we rent for us when we next visited. I managed to ignore that, and also when we went to pick up our delicious sparkling strawberry wine for our wedding at the local winery I didn't have any of the offered samplers either, so I'm quite pleased with myself all told.0 -
Still holding strong!0

I have totally failed this challenge this month, is it too late to start over?? Drank too much Jim Beam over the weekend, I could really use a break Weight loss has completely stalled, I know that abstaining from the booze would give me the boost I need!!!0

It's never to late to start again, one day at a time!0 -
I failed on Friday night but that was it. I knew Friday would be an issue.0

When I started getting back into shape I stopped drinking, not really intentionally, but the desire to lose weight overrode my desire for alcohol. Now that I'm achieving my goal I have taken a drink or two (curiously aligning with my plateaus). Metabolically there are two substances which severely inhibit stored fat burning - alcohol and caffeine. On a macro scale this isn't nearly as much of a factor, but another interesting tidbit in the science behind nutrition.0

I started a dry year on Xmas day 2014, due to hangovers affecting my ability to weight train.....5 months in and still going strong. Good luck people who are doing dry May. I've still got another 7 months to go0

I've mostly sucked at this, but haven't drank since last Saturday. Reached my ultimate goal weight yesterday - when I'm not drinking, weight falls off. Last night I had a normal Friday night out with friends and didn't drink! Seriously, virgin Moscow mules taste just like the real thing! I bought the SMART recovery book and have been reading it. I think it's helping me. Taking it one day at a time, but I'm happy about these small victories!0

Wish I'd seen this earlier but I think I'll pick up on the idea and try it in June. It'll be hard, the local bar is my alone time. But I'll give it a try0

Looking back through my diary since January, there is one major thing holding me back and causing me problems, Alcohol! Even being fairly careful and only having a few beers and then moving onto spirits with no sugar mixers can cause me to add a full meals worth of calories to the day and if I'm hungover the next day I end up overeating as well (I lose the will to cook and an almost medical need for greasy food). I have tried cutting down during the week to make up for the weekend (my diaries open if you want to see what I mean) but I'm not feeling it's quite worth it.
So starting from the 4th May, I'm not going to let one drop of alcohol pass my lips and see how that affects my weightloss.
Anyone with me?

May is almost over....and I hope you are on your way. You want to go for June? I have cut back but would like to cut back some more. It's funny how beer taste different now when I haven't had one in a while.

I didn't do very well in May, but I am going for June. I'm getting a head start and my dry June will start today.

It's a holiday today....I'll start tomorrow.0

So, thats it, May is over! Thank goodness for that.
I think this saturday was the worst day for me, I had a bunch of the bridal party over to help with DIY decorations for the wedding, and I was getting other people drinks, including beer/cider! Then a few of them stayed until late and we were playing board games and generally having fun and it was incredibly tempting to join in with the drinking too, I do enjoy getting a bit tiddly with my friends.
However I can proudly say that I have not had one alcoholic beverage this month, however I did accidentally let a drop pass my lips as I over-poured a friends drink and it went onto my hand and I automatically licked my hand, but I don't think that really counts...
I can't decide when to have my first beer, whether to have it tonight just because I can or to leave it until the party we have planned this weekend, decisions, decisions!
So how did everyone else do?0 -
I'm ready....0

I just found this thread, I'm in for June!0
