That video just ruined the meal i'm eating right now. I've been using MFP for about a month now and been using measuring cups for my portions. Good thing is that I have a scale that I ordered last week. It's suppose to reach Wal-mart tomorrow so I can pick it up. I'm just praying to the Lord that my body have been ina calorie defict for the past two weeks since May 1st is my weigh in date
yeah i am sorry, it can be shocking and a real eye opener I know
I was highly disappointing in the amount of oats i had left over after weighing really 40 gram instead of half a cup.
But now totally used to it and besides that my calorie amount is up now

For me, it was cheese. Who would have thought that what I considered 1 slice of cheese would weigh that much!!

For me it was the serving size of my Laura Secord Chocolate Hazelnut spread (like Nutella). It was super easy to eat 550 calories in one sitting, and I could have done 2000 if I didn't use some self control LOL0

Yes, that ... and nuts in general. I just posted a link in another thread about how many calories are in nuts. Everyone says to eat nuts because they are healthy ... and I know they tend to be a bit high in calories ... but I figured I'd just have a few each day ...
In reality, I was probably packing away anywhere from 300-500 calories worth of nuts in what I thought was "just a few".

Noooo I've been eat healthy since February I started mfp last week . I'll have to get a scale. I really gotta figure out this calorie thing. Before I was always the one that said "I don't have time to count calories" Thank you guys I'll hopefully figure it out soon.
I totally get you! I got thoroughly annoyed when despite increasing workouts from 1 30 minute to 3 1 hour long a week and adding swimming my weight stayed exactly the same for a month. My trainer had me start logging my meals and then gave me holy hell because I had about half the proteins I needed and was even worse on carbs. Eating more seemed entirely counter intuitive but I added 1 more meal and an additional snack (both highish protein) and I dropped 9 lbs. There is a difference between eating less and eating right and when you have spent a lifetime having people tell you to eat less the idea of eating more to weigh less is like saying that 2+2=a unicorn. Try it for 2 weeks though and see what happens.

I'm going to give you my standard MFP advice:
Buy a food scale, weigh and log everything.
Do cardio if you want, and if you do, only eat back 50% of your calories. Lift weights and hit your protein goal to help maintain muscle mass while losing.
Cheat meals that take you over maintenance will sabotage your efforts. Log the cheat meals too (falls under the 'log everything' rule).
Eat anything you want in moderation, keeping in mind that your diet will be easier to stick with if you chose foods that make it easier to stay under your calories without feeling hungry.
Also it would be a good idea to read some of the stickies at the top of the various forums such as:

I openly acknowledge when my eating sucks. If I am not home, I don't eat. It's a problem. That's why I started carrying the protein bars in my bag. I will at least eat those. If anything, the last week of not being home and so not hitting my levels proves my point. I lost maybe 1lb.
