hi everyone. trying to pin point my issue here. my eating hasn't changed, i eat pretty good! The only thing I've changed in the past 2 weeks is the amount of activity I've been doing. I've been running 5km about 2 to 3 times per week (the past 2 weeks). Ive been pushing myself! To be totally honest, I have not been doing much strength training. Squats and some minor lifting at home with my barbell with low weight.

I have gained a legit 5 lbs. weighed myself in the morning before eating, same ol regular time. Now i feel like I'm making progress... clothes are a tiny bit loose as well. Is there a scientific reason for this???? WHY body WHY.

water... your muscles are retaining it as you have just started running recently.

I carry an extra 2lbs when I am exercising regularly.

There is 3,500 calories in 1lbs of fat, to gain 2lbs in you'd have to consume 1,250 calories ABOVE YOUR TDEE DAILY. Did you do this? We both know you didn't...

to gain 2lb of fat OP would have had to eat 7000 calories over maintenance...

yes. was a typo, meant 5lbs. which the op claims.

I think its the 1,250 cals bit that's wrong?

Water all the way. Don't worry about it, that will come off naturally (and often suddenly) when you adjust to the new exercise routine. There's no need to change your calorie intake, it won't help with the water situation.

I think PU was trying to state every single day she would have to eat 1,250 over her TDEE . . .here's why

5 (number of pounds gained) x 3500 (for 1lb gain) = 17 500 calories is what she would have to have eaten over and above her TDEE for a 2 week time frame

    1250 (per day) x 14 (the time frame given) = 17 500

yeah its definitely not fat because my diet hasn't changed at all. i did try to read up on reasons.. i believe you are correct about the water. i guess ill just deal with it and continue on forward and eventually my body will dismiss it lol
