I am trying to lose weight and I am eating healthy all day long and exercising consistently but I can't seem to stop myself from eating at night! No matter how hard I try, I just can't kick the cravings! Any suggestions?

Nothing wrong with eating at night. I eat a small breakfast and lunch so I can eat a big dinner. Helps me sleep too.

Make sure you leave yourself enough calories to have a snack in the evening. I usually have a decaf coffee and a quest bar.

As the above poster says, nothing wrong with eating at night as long as you have the calories left for it.

Save some calories for a snack at night?
I know a lot of people say they fought it for a long time, then realized they just had to account for it.
If thats when you're hungry, save some calories for snacking.

And before you ask....eating at night is no different from eating during the day.

Budget some calories for nigh-time snacks and/or exercise self-control and don’t give in to the cravings.

I get really hungry/cravey (not a word, but it should be) at night, and usually save a couple hundred calories for popcorn, milk, or dark chocolate. Once I’ve used those up, and I still want to eat, I make a cup of tea and suck it up. I never wake up hungry in the mornings after going to bed hungry, so that helps.

1000-1500 calories of my 2000-2500 calorie diet comes after 7:30pm, and after 9:30pm on gym nights.

Thanks everyone! I guess I thought it was not okay to eat past a certain time at night because you are no longer active, this is just what I have been told! I have not been going over my calories for the day but I have hit a plateu and I thought that eating at night might be contributing to it? What do you guys think?

    I think that's a myth!

Your metabolism doesn't really decrease all that much overnight, and it's when a lot of the muscle repair/building happens, so there really is a place for that food to 'go' besides stored fat.

That is such a nice idea. I love the mini chocolates, I always feel like I’m eating more than I am. Twix are one of my faves

That’s definitely a myth, as far as I know. If you’re not seeing any progress, I’d suggest you (1) make sure you weigh all your solid food and measure your liquids with cups, to ensure you’re actually maintaining a deficit, (3) eat back only about half your exercise calories because they’re usually overestimated, and (3) be patient, because weight fluctuates a lot. I wouldn’t worry about it, if you’re tracking your intake accurately

    This^

I'm a late night snacker. I save calories for popcorn! Munchy, crunchy, and I get a decent sized serving.

That concern is based on theories that have been proven incorrect. Your body is in a constant cycle of storing and retrieving energy and there is nothing science based that shows when you eat your calories has any impact on how you metabolize them.

If you're hungry at night, reach for some protein! It'll fill you up! I looove Quest Cookie Dough bars :)

Maybe you're not eating enough at dinner? Just because you eat your calorie goal doesn't mean what you're eating is nutritionally dense or filling.
