if myfitness pal has 1240 calories as what i should be eating, that's in order to lose 1 pound a week right (that's what i put in)? Like that is the 500 calorie deficit?

You can choose how much you want to lose per week -- anywhere from 2 to .5 pounds per week, I believe.
Edit: I didn't read your question correctly. Yes, if you chose 1 pound per week, it gave you the deficit to hit that goal.0 -
