Hunger hormones

Hello, female/5'3, 146 lbs and trying to lose fat. Weight training twice per week.
Question -is it healthy to ignore your hunger alarms when you know you just ate enough calories for lunch with a chicken fillet and all? They kick in about 2 hours after a meal but I prefer to wait until dinner to use up calories so I'm just training myself to ignore the stomach screaming for food. I have tried incorporating a 140 cal snack in between but it doesn't make the hunger go away. Can you actually train your stomach to know when it's going to get fed and is it unhealthy to ignore the hunger? Send me info on these hormones please.
Thanks

Are you eating a reasonable amount? If it's real hunger you could either up the calories a bit or play around with meal timing and composition.

But for me, when I first started I tended to feel hungry at times I was used to eating even if there was no good reason to. What I did was make sure I really shouldn't be hungry--I was eating a decent-sized and balanced lunch, with protein and veggies and some fat--and then basically teach myself to ignore it. At first I let myself eat low calories foods to deal with the desire to snack (raw veggies, but berries or something would have been fine too), and as I'd hoped it went away reasonably quickly. It comes back at the old times when I'm stressed or bored or something, but I'm (usually) better able to recognize it as not real hunger and deal.

You might be thirsty.... Drink water... If after 20 minutes you still get those pangs, eat a light snack..

Are you hungrier per se or getting these more on exercise days? If so, you may want to eat a wee bit more on these days...

I do not have any of your stats or know much about you from your post... but I would try the water for sure. If you want to elaborate more on your situation (current eating, goals, excising ((how much, type)), etc..) feel free..

    Thank you for your responses.

I eat 1500 a day. Try to get at least 80 grams of protein. I think I have to learn to 'deal' with the habitual hunger and understand I'm healthy and nourished but my body is used to snacks all the time

Hot tea can help relax your stomach and quiet its protests.

How much fat are you eating? Fat will help you feel full for longer :)

Generally try to eat 50-70 grams of fat per day and at least 80 grams of protein. Even after 2 scrambled eggs with wheat toast and peanut butter for breakfast - the hunger pangs show up 2 hours later. Does anyone have any good information on hunger hormones, retraining them, listening to them, why they matter?

If 1500 cals is your correct goal, i.e. not too much of a deficit, then you *should* get used to it. As mentioned, you can adjust your macros a bit to see if that helps. How long have you been at 1500 calories? Your body generally takes several weeks to adjust.
