Nike+

Does anyone know anything about the Nike+? What does it do... I see updates from some friends on Facebook that say ___ went x km at a pace of y. Do you have to have nike shoes? I don't like them, well I didn't like them when I tried them a few years ago. Don't know if they've gotten better. So I want to know if it's a nice tool or purely a gadget and not worth the $$ and if I had to have Nike shoes. Thoughts and opinions are welcome. Thanks!!

I don't use Nike+ (mostly b/c it's expensive) but my friends love it. You don't need Nike shoes, you can buy a chip that attaches to any running shoe. It tracks your distance, pace, etc and you can download to your computer. pretty neat.0

I have Nike+ and I personally love it. There are ways to make the sensor work without the Nike shoes, I'm sure you can google. I do have Nike shoes that are just for the Nike+ gadget, and they were only 80 dollars and they are very comfy. Otherwise I love it. Its very accurate on keeping up with your pace, how far you go, how long, etc. I'm not sure if the calorie counter is accurate, but it probably isn't that far off from a HR watch because you have to enter your weight and it knows exactly how fast you are going. I also love when I'm running for a goal, and I get inspirational words from athletes telling me to not give up. Also hooking it up to your computer and syncing it with your Nike+ account is cool because you can check out all your runs at once, or just one in particular- where you can look at what points during your run was slower, what parts you ran fast, etc. you can also leave little notes on each run on how you felt, what to do in the future, and whatever else you want to put.
So all in all, I think its a great buy. The sensor isn't that much, and i would recommend getting the shoes because the sensor has a little spot for it so it doesn't move around in your shoe.
Hope this helps in your decision making0 -
thanks so far! I have 1 more question. I run mostly on a treadmill (safety and heat reasons) does it still work on that or is it a GPS type thing that requires that you be moving?0

I use it all the time on the treadmill because I don't like running outside, and it still works fine!0 -
I love my Nike+ and you can download specific training (personal trainers and workouts) from Itunes and there is a specific one for Treadmill training which i have used and is really good!
