Hi all,
We are having thai this evening. I don't know what to choose - my kcal ideal for the meal is 500 kcal Max. I saw steamed sea bass is on the menu and I think you get a lot - but I need some carbs in the evening or else I can't sleep.... Any ideas as to what to choose ? (To be honest would be happier with a pizza but my husband loves thai!). Thanks

Steamed sea bass would be a great option. You can order it with rice to satisfy your need for carbs. Add some vegetables and it will still be a pretty low cal meal. Most Thai food isn't going to be TOO terrible. Curries based with coconut milk will probably be higher in calories. Pad Thai or other noodle dishes can be a good option, especially if you ask them to throw in a lot of vegetables. I usually get shrimp as my protein choice, which is also pretty low in calories.0

Anything without noodles. Lemon grass chicken and vegetables. Shrimp and steamed veggies with peanut sauce on the side. Or order whatever you want and ask immediately for a to go box and box up half and have it for lunch/dinner tomorrow!0

Fresh summer rolls0

The Thai restaurant near me serves brings the sticky rice to the table in a separate bowl, so if you order something that does not come with fried rice, it is easy to have exactly the amount of rice with the rest of the meal that you want. Pad King, a ginger stir-fry is loaded with veggies, and since it isn't made with coconut milk, is fairly low-fat. Order it with chicken, and it is quite a well-balanced, reasonably low-cal meal. Of course, I take half of it home with me because the portions are so big.0

I never have a problem eating Thai food. So much of it is fresh and light. I'd go with a tom yum type of soup that doesn't have coconut milk, and a curry or meat and veg dish and go easy on any rice or noodle dish.0

Guys... big thanks! It will be one of the salads I think with the rice (they do steamed) . I am staying well away from the noodles (after advice on here and I have heard they are huge portions and quite oily too). Shrinklinglett ah you see I like tom yum but it's too light for me (I am a BIG eater - so have to be careful with what I choose (I will always eat everything on my plate). Pad king sounds nice too.... au summer rolls - aren't they quite fatty... thank you everyone I was feeling anxiety coming on!0
