24 grams of sugar?

In my food log area, it says I should be having 24 grams of sugar a day. I am finding this absolutely impossible! I had 1 cup of frozen mango in my smoothie and it already put me over! lol! So I cant even have one cup of fruit, let alone sugar from other sources. What is up with that? I am a newbie to diet and fitness.

Use it as a way to make better choices. Fruit is a good choice. I was eating yoplait yogurt that had an insane amount of sugar, before looking for a low sugar, high protein greek yogurt. I wouldn't worry about it too much, especially from fruit.
I just looked at my sugar and I get 59 grams. Are you sure you have your settings correct?0 -
Also I noticed it is giving me 165 for carbs per day. Is that a realistic number? I feel like that might be low. But again I am new to all of this.0

Unless you have a medical condition you don't really need to track sugar. Many people- myself included- have swapped sugar out and track fiber instead. MFP sugar goals are notoriously low and can be gone over with a couple pieces of fruit.
Depending on what your goals are 165g of carb is realistic. Mine is set at 175 so its not too much more than yours.0 -
If you open your food diary, others will be able to give better advice. I get 195 carbs. And from your profile you only have 50 lbs to lose, right? Maybe your sugar is on point. Also maybe mango is a high sugar fruit?0

I always heard the cutting sugar was insanely important, no? What IS a good amount of sugar to be around? If it is sugar from fruit, surely I can have a bit more. Its not like it is a soda.0 -
Would it be relatively safe to assume that I can eat however much sugar I want, as long as it is in fruit and veggies, etc? Like Not downing soda and candy or whatever? How much would be too much, even if my only course was fruit?0

I think I do... I just set it at the max amount of weight loss as quickly as possible.0 -
Where did 24 grams of sugar come from? The MFP default is 15%, so there's something wonky there. The lowest you should be getting is 45.0

Sugar from fruit are good for you. It is refined sugar you need to keep track on.0
