Has anyone had a stress fracture in their ankle? How long did it take to get better? How little did you have to do before it healed? Any advice welcomed.

I had one years ago. I believe it was 6 weeks no impact training. I could still do bike, elliptical, weights if it didn't hurt.

I had a stress fracture in the metatarsal bone of my foot last spring. I was in a boot for a month. I was unable to run during this time, but I did bike and do upper body strength training. After I got out of the boot, I progressed back into running SLOWLY (doing run walk intervals for several weeks). All in all, I was limited in my activity for about 2 months. I don't think I lost as much overall fitness as I thought I would though. I think most of that was because I kept active with biking and whatever strength training I was able to do. Icing it daily was also important.

I would follow the advice of your doctor.
