hi mfp,
What foods are good to help me overcome the tiredness I am feeling. I need something that may help to give me a boost.

How does that help tiredness?
OP, start with keeping hydrated if you're not already. You can also limit your caffein intake to a small dose in the morning, and none throughout the day. If you're taking a lot of caffein right now, you can wean off of it Slowly to prevent headaches.0 -
Depending on how tired you are, you might need to look for the source of it instead of swapping out foods. You can eat anything that would normally fit into your calorie and nutrition goals, but if something else is causing the tiredness, then food may not help.
Are you getting enough sleep? Overdoing the exercise? Have you recently cut out anything like caffeine, sugar, or carbs? Are you getting enough to eat in general? Plenty of iron and other micronutrients (things like your B vitamins come to mind for energy)? It's really kind of a shot in the dark without knowing what's causing it.
Hopefully someone else can give you better suggestions. :flowerforyou:0 -

Yup good points. Sleep disorders would be a huge factor. OP, is the tiredness you're feeling something you've had a long time, or just since you've been limiting calories (I'm assuming you're limiting calories)? Depending on how big your deficit is, you may experience tiredness from just not eating as much as you used to.0 -
Look at hydration, sleep habits, and your calorie intake. If you aren't giving your body enough fluids, rest and fuel you will become tired.
Personally I feel like crap (tired, heavy, lazy) if all I eat is "junk" food. I definitely don't eat 100% "healthy" but I do incorporate a ton of fresh/whole foods into my diet. I just feel (and perform athletically) better consuming them. I also don't consume caffeine beverages like most people seem to.
There are obviously medical factors that could apply too...0 -
Yeah, I'd order the culprits as follows:
- Eating enough?
- Sleeping enough?
- Getting all your macros?
- Underlying medical condition such as diabetes, hypoglycemia, anemia, or thyroid?
- Micronutrient deficiency?
Find the culprit and you'll have your solution and it won't likely be a magic food. All food is magic.0 -
Greens do it for me. Whenever I need that boost, I get a smoothie going and add kale, baby spinach and sometimes, L-Carnitine.0
