As the title says. I'm convinced there is, yet I've searched the net high and low and cannot seem to find any evidence. Any of you knowledgeable people here know the answer?
I just want some salty sweet potato, but I need to log it accurately! :s

All the calories are in the sweet potato.

    Salt itself has no calories.

Salt has no calories, but it can cause you to retain water, which in turn causes weight gain. Maybe that's where the confusion comes from?

^^^ This. It should be noted, though, that this water weight gain is temporary. Sodium is the element of my diet that I have to carefully monitor in order to not be discouraged when my actual weight loss gets masked by temporary water weight gain, instead. :)

Possibly by the cup, but I'd have to check.

The link I provided above is for one cup of salt. Zero calories. ;)

When foods can be broken down to sugars or peptides to produce ATP, you get calories. ATP is the basic energy entity in biological processes. Salt doesn't have molecular bonds that can be broken to produce ATP. So, there are no calories in salt (or water, mineral water, air etc)

Calories are only in three macronutrients: Fat, Carbohydrates, and Protein.
Per gram, fat provides 9 calories while carbs and proteins provide 4 calories.
Oh, and there's 7 calories per gram of alcohol, or something like that.
But other than that, there's no calories in sodium (salt), potassium, vitamins, or anything else you may think of. :)
That being said, you should still consume it in moderation, too much salt is definitely not good!
