Anybody using the recipe builder?

I have been trying to use the recipe builder in MFP without success. The kilojoule allowances are always wildly inaccurate (one recipe for chickpea stew registered no kilojoules but a low fat fill beef pie registered 46,000 kilojoules!) What could I be doing wrong?

I just created a new one yesterday and have about 40 recipes. I have never had a problem

Always use it. Be sure to check what MFP picks out for you, ingredient wise. It's always better to try and put USDA in front of things, to find verifiable ingredients.

Same here, best part of the site IMO. I create my own and do not import from sites since I usually make my own changes, never had a problem.

I use the recipe builder as well. Once the recipe is done, I weigh in grams the whole of whatever I cooked, and then transfer the information into my foods. That way, I have the recipe in grams and can vary servings. It works if you use the same amount of ingredients every time.

what the heck is a kilojoule?? Seriously, I have had no problems with the recipes I have made so far. Most are kind of "clean the refrigerator of stuff" recipes though.

An alternative measurement unit for calorie.

And bloody annoying as kj is the standard measurement in my country but I work in calories.

ahh gotcha...I understand. My bad. Calories are evil things that invade my closet and shrink my clothes when I am asleep...

Lmao. For some reason that reminds me of a quote from 'Coupling':

"Bottoms are our natural enemy. They follow us around our entire lives, right behind us and constantly growing. How do they do that? I'm sure mine's back there secretly snacking."

LOVE the show "Coupling" the UK version....the American version was crap... Loved the dude that always seemed like he had just either drank a huge amount of liquior OR just watched a huge amount of p@rn... hahaha He was twitchy but so lovable...

Jeff! I still reference 'the giggle loop' and 'the sock gap', etc. It wasn't the same after he left.

And, yes, the American version was horrific!

Sorry to derail, OP! I do use the recipe builder, but was tripped up by dodgy ingredient auto-fills the first few times. Gotta be careful they match and are accurate.

heehee....I remember the episode when they all go to a funeral and Jeff giggles throughout the whole thing.... Yep the recipe I made of my refrigerator soup was classic....especially when I added more new stuff and portioned it out....about 130 calories a portion...yummy,

How are you using it ...I've never had a problem

Weigh every ingredient and select accurately from the MFP database
    Weigh the final cooked dish
Divide into 100g "servings" and save

Importing a recipe ...do the same checking against every ingredient for an accurate database entry

I use it all the time. I have only had one issue this week.

It gave my 1 cup of mashed bananas 23000 calories...so I replaced it. Easy peazy.

I have used it several times without a problem. Are you making sure that the items you enter are correct?

I've used it a few times, trick is getting the math right when you then need to figure how much it'll serve.

I've had no problem with it. As others have said above make sure the correct ingredients are getting logged and that you figure out the number of servings.

LOL! I call it 'Free the fridge Friday' because it's usually friday when I have to do it.

I use it all the time. Never have issues with it when I'm entering the items manually.

If you're referring to using kj on here, you can change it to calories in Account Settings and Change Units.
