Apparently cutting fats ....

Has effects such as making your hair fall out....in clumps. I have been more careful I should say with the fats that I eat. I use Olive oil for salads and grape-seed oil to fry my egg. Other than that all fats specially on meats are at the very very minimum. I buy meats as lean as they can be and I use Becel very little at breakfast..... A trainer at the gym told me that cutting fats will cause your hair to fall out....is it a coincidence that my hair has been falling out like crazy or is it true??
What are thoughts on this?

A lot of people cut out fat as they have been made to think all of their lives that fat makes you fat. When setting macros i'm sure you should aim for a minimum of 0.45 per pound of body weight. I always try to hit my protein and fat macros and then do what i want with any remaining cals. As a side note it's always good fats I aim for (nut butters, olive oil) I don't get in a panic if I eat a snickers thats within cals after my macros are on target...0

Healthy fats tend to be good for things like hair, skin, and nails, so a severe lack of fats could cause the hair to become brittle and break more often. It would certainly not happen immediately and probably won't be as severe as the trainer says (chances are it won't fall out like crazy, just break more often), but the quality of your hair can suffer.0

I've seen this posted a lot on several different boards and the consensus is yes, low fat can cause hair loss (beyond the normal amount you usually lose). I have my macros set to 40% fat, 30% carbs and 30% protein. Fat is is good for our bodies0

I've switched to eating full fat everything, no low fat alternatives. still in my cal restriction but I feel more satisfied and the food tastes better.0
