Weight Gain, HELP! (From calorie increase)

OP...while I agree with using a scale to weight your food...unless...you feel as if being that strict will put you back in the restrict/binge mode. You said that you have only been eating this way for a month so my guess would be that your weight gain will settle down after your body has adjusted. By any chance have you considered seeing a dietician to help you set up an eating plan?
Everyone seems to be all for gram scales, but the image of me weighing and measuring each morsel of food feels so obsessive and disordered. I really don't want to open that door.
My goal in life is to have a healthy relationship with food, not be thinking about foodan all the time, and maintain my desired weight.
I don't want to be obsessing over calories, all the time. Calories on here to me dpn't have to be exact, just a rough estimate.
I have wanted for a while now to see a dietician, because it has been a few years since my last. However, I am afraid of what he/she may think of alternative eating habits, such as raw till 4, (which I have been wanting to do for a while, now).0 -

One thing you can do is just measure periodically to see how good your guesstimates are. Like, look at what you think is a "medium banana" and see what the database says. Then weigh it as an experiment to see if you were "right" or if the database was high or low. The next time you have a banana, estimate the calories based on what you learned from your experiment, but don't bother measuring. Maybe in a month, weigh another banana to see if your guesses are still accurate.
Like I have chocolate milk as a recovery drink, and I know how far to fill various glasses to get a cup, because at some point I measured a cup and poured it into the glass. Now I no longer measure except occasionally to make sure my pours haven't snuck up on me.
Also, a half cup of foods liked my baked beans last night always looks like a cup to me when I scoop it out with a regular spoon. So I always weigh it bc otherwise I'd only probably be eating half of the calories I thought. And I want a full serving, darn it! Anything that says a half cup needs to be measured in my case or I'll always short myself. If it's ice cream that I'm fitting into a 1500 calorie day, that would be a bummer.
I've gotten to the point where I can hack off a portion of fish or meat on the first try that is nearly exactly the number of ounces I wanted. Or pour out almost exactly 40 g of frozen spinach or pour exactly 5 oz of wine.
But you do NOT need to weigh every bite or lick of peanut butter off a spoon. Or every bit of raw veggies. Or weigh a boiled egg or a piece of bread out of a bag. Some people do get carried away, and that would definite be a slippery slope for you.0
