So, i dont normally have protein powders. But every now and then I love Vega Viva Vanilla Protein smoothie mix and never had anyyy problems( its vegan too). I am not vegan, and Im not allergic to anything.
I bought a packet of Vega Sport Recover Chocolate RecoverProtein Powder this one and took it after a 30 min strength video and now i have such a sick feeling. i added just berries and almond milk.
it says it has "5,000 mg BCAAS and 5,000 mg glutamine per serving"- maybe im allergic to too much of that stuff? it has stevia, but i always use stevia so its not that im allergic to that. Its a plant based protein. Ive taken whey protein before and bought the kind muscle milk vanilla flavor sells at Costco which wasnt as healthy as Vega Sport. Sooo, any ideas how to get rid of this stomach ache??? I read reviews now( of course TOO LATE lol), that other people who drank it got cramps too and felt sick.

So, any ideas about how to kick this stomach ache away. I feel so sick, and the thought of eating something makes me queezy. i took acidophilus pill with some water. But, i just feel so sick. One guy wrote he was sick for 4 hours ! and had diarehha. oy boy.\\
All i had to day for breakfast was 1 egg with sprouted grain bread with almond butter and half a mango for breakfast/ then i had half an avocado for a snack followed by this disgusting Vega Sport Shake. which i reallllly regret.

Protein powders don't agree with some people. When I first started consuming them, I'd feel quite sick. But I guess I "built up a tolerance"?
If it's really that bad, just avoid them. Get your protein from food.0 -

This for me too, I can't seem to tolerate whey protein in shakes at all without explosive side effects! Hemp protein is ok but tastes like the '90's lol

The biggest issue is this protein is garbage. When Supplement companies tell you about all the extra BCAA's they've packed into their powder it's usually a great indication that they are misleading the buyer whom is this case is you. Protein is made up of Branched Chained Amino Acids (BCAA's), Glutamine is also an Amino Acid btw. BCAA's are not a complete protein chain but they are detected as protein in lab tests and they are much cheaper to produce. What's that mean to you? Companies add BCAA's to save money and make claims that there is more protein than what is actually in the powder. This is called protein spiking, read up on it, it's pretty important.
Now the question of needing protein powders or not is a matter of your goals which no one previous seemed to cover. Keep in mind the key word to protein powder is 'supplement', it is meant to supplement a healthy diet, not be the answer. If you find you are doing strenuous workouts that require a greater protein intake like 1gram per pound as recommended for muscle gain then protein is right for you, you just need to find a better one. However, if you are the weekend warrior, spin class, sweatin to the oldies type then a normal balanced diet will do you just fine. Either way, stop buying that garbage protein.0
