    There is one-and-only-one plan.

It is *guaranteed to work and, simultaneously, the *only* thing that will work.

We call it the "eating less than you burn" plan. a.k.a. Caloric Deficit.

It's good you can eat anything, so eat anything you like at the calorie goal MFP gives you and that's all you need to do!

Thank you just feel like I should just be sticking to fruit and veg
I just ate beef stroganoff with mash and all I was thinking after was about the sour cream in it

But I added it into the app and it seemed ok
I'm just not sure on the portion size I'm meant to be having

The word "diet" has a negative connotation, because it signifies something that is done for momentary gain (well, loss), and then a regular routine (most likely that which caused the weight gain) is resumed. What's better is something that is sustainable for life, such as developing healthy eating habits and a do-able exercise routine. As others have stated, using MFP to eat at a deficit in order to lose weight is sustainable and tracking calories causes you to be accountable for what and how much you eat. Toss the diet, make a lifestyle change!

Try to hit really low calorie goals for few days, you will start trying to figure out meals that satiate you for long and are low on calories.
For me it's veg like broccoli, carrots, fine beans, etc. fried/steamed on huge pan with lid adding some water and spices with lean red meats.

Weight loss is as simple as calories and math. No need to make the whole thing overly complicated :)

No special diets for weight loss. To help with portions at dinner you might try filling half your plate with veggies.
