I started out with the default and lost weight for months just fine. You will lose weight as long you keep in a caloric deficit.
As I became more concerned with muscle, strength training, and tracking macros- I lowered it to 45% carbs and divvied up the rest in fat/ protein. I try for more protein. Some people do 40/30/30, but this has nothing to do with weight loss.
You can do what works for you. Protein and fat are supposed to keep you more satisfied in hunger terms if that helps.0 -
Here are a few links to help you figure things out. Good luck!

One approach is to focus on just eating what you normally do or what is appealing to you, and see what percentages you end up. You will probably want to boost your protein a bit because that helps you to keep more muscle as you lose. Personally, I eat about 30% carb, 45% fat, and 25% protein. But the most important thing at first is to figure out how to make your calorie goal work for you, and then you can start trying out different macro ratios to see how you feel on them.0

OK thank you all for your help and advice. I will try the default for a week then see how it goes. All of you have done so well and again thank you

I have lost 100+ lbs, there is no magic ratio of macronutrients that leads to more weight loss. I have simply ate less and not really worried about carb/fat/protein ratio.0

This, right here?
Is excellent advice.
You (or anyone else reading, for that matter), may find that only a few relatively small tweaks are all that's necessary to succeed.0
