Exercise times

I read an article that said you should be exercising between 60-90 minutes a day, at least 5 days a week. I also read somewhere else that 20 minutes of cardio is sufficient, and that 30 minutes is good enough also. I'm confused.
I was just recently able to run 20 minutes straight (well, maybe walked 3 minutes out of the 20, but walking at a 4 mph speed is pretty fast!), and could dream of running a whole hour right now. Maybe in a few months. So is that a true statement, or is 30 minutes satisfactory?
Also, how much running is too much? Every day? Every other day? If I don't run every day I end up stopping. Help!!

It is hard to say what is appropriate for each person. I know that I don't work out for more then an hour and that is the maximum on most days. 30 minutes a day is just fine as long as you are getting under your calorie total. You don't want to overdo it and burn yourself out, so trying to run for an hour at a time might end up hurting you. Cardio can be done every day so if you feel you can run every day, good job! But pay attention to your body, and if it hurts dont push. I usually run a couple times a week, eliptial the others and I walk my dog every day.
If all else fails, ask your Dr. They have your weight and can help you figure out how much is too much.0
