increased my excercise and gained weight

I have lost 12 lbls so far (in 1.5 months) of watching calories and moderate excercise. Starting 10 days ago I increased the intensity of my workouts. I started weight lifting three days a week along with long walks. The other days in the week I continued on my C25K program and walked and used stationary bike. However not only I didn't lose any weight but I gained two pounds.
My eating hasn't changed much, I try to eat 1500-1700 and stay under my calorie goals. My TDEE is 2100 and I burn close to 2500 calories including excercise every day. I should also mention that my water intake has increased significantly. I used to drink 3 or 4 cups of water every day, but with more intense workouts I drink 8-10 cups now. Could this be water gain? I don't think I am building muscles because I just strated strength 10 days ago but my body is responding to the workout. I feel sore after lifting.
Can someone help please? My diary is open.

If you just started lifting your muscles will be retaining water for repair. That's why you saw a gain.
How is your TDEE 2100 if you are burning around 2500 a day? Your TDEE would be 2500.0 -
oh thanks for information. I guess I misunderstood the right meaning of TDEE. I calculated it using sedentary life style and then added average burn through excercise. You are right, my TDEE is close to 2500.
Could I expect to lose the pounds after a few days?If you just started lifting your muscles will be retaining water for repair. That's why you saw a gain.

Give your body a couple weeks to adjust to your new execrcise regiment and then see if you still have those gains. Same thing happened to me but I eventually started to drop again0 -
I do not do nearly the exercise you do, at all, but I have noticed when I go on long hikes or bike rides on the weekend despite eating the recommended (and adjusted) calories, I tend to weigh higher, reflecting a gain of 1-2 lb for 2 days afterward. Your body is probably working to "replenish" itself. Don't worry and just see how it goes with the increased exercise. Good luck!0
