But I won't know the calorie intake...
The restaurant has no website...
Only thing I can think of is have a salad and log it as 800 calories...

Enjoy whatever you want, enjoy it, log it as best you can, move on.
One meal will change nothing in the long run.
Or, sit weeping in to a dry salad, whilst running headlong in to a world of disordered thinking and anxiety about food and socialising.0 -
Thanks cityruss your right one meal isn't going to hurt0

I try to piece things together by estimating individual ingredients. Works great on burgers, chicken, etc. Sometimes I'll use generic entries or entries from other restaurants that are similar. It'll at least give you a rough idea. Maybe quick add 200 calories on top of that just to give you some buffer.0

One meal isn't terrible. It's ok to have a cheat day!0

I'll search for comparable food items from other restaurants, that way I'm getting close even if I'm not dead-on accurate. I also agree with Russ. Enjoy your meal!0

Are you going to be eating mystery foods that you've never encountered in the past?0

Thank you everyone

If you want to indulge, just do a big cardio workout beforehand.0

It depends: do you go out frequently or very rarely? You might need a different approach depending on the answer.
We eat out often. I try to eat the way I normally eat. Most of the restaurants we go to don't have nutrition information available, so I make comparisons with food available in the database (I don't log generally, but just use it as a guide). So if we're going out to a Chinese restaurant and I plan to have beef and broccoli, I find one in the database and use that as an estimate. Does that make sense?
If you don't go out often, you can just quick add some calories if calories are the only thing you're logging.0 -
Its one meal, enjoy it, log it as best as you can..or don't! its up to you....then just get back on track the next day.
I usually keep my other meals low cal on a day when I'm eating out, I also up my workout so it all balances out0 -

Then you should be fine! But you can still find a comparable food in the database. Be conservative and pick a higher calorie count restaurant as your comparison: PF Changs, Bucca Del Beppo, etc. That way you'd more likely not under estimate the calories. If you go to a mom and pop italian place, pick something from the Bucca entries and add that.
Enjoy!0 -

Meh, just choose what looks appealing off the menu and guesstimate your log entries.
Round up on your estimates and eat light the rest of the day. Do some extra light exercise (like a brisk walk) and don't eat back the calories on that.
Eating out at a proper restaurant (not a chain) with friends and/or family is awesome...enjoy it.
