Just bought Charge, and it won't charge/screen won't light up?

I bought the Charge. I installed the software, and since nothing happened on the screen of the device when I held the button for three seconds, I plugged it in to charge it for two hours. Still nothing on the screen when I held the button. I checked to make sure the charger connection was secure. I tried holding the button for longer, like 15 seconds... still nothing. Then I did all that again with a different USB port. Nothing.
Has this happened to anyone else with a new device that won't start?
