I actually might look into the legalities of it in the UK, it seems very much against distance selling regulations and a loophole waiting to be closed
It is legal (even if not exactly moral or customer-friendly), but it's unusual in the UK for this type of set-up to be used on a company that sells physical goods rather than something like a dating site.
