It's a fancy name for Intermittent Fasting (eating in an 8 hour window) and "clean" eating.

It isn't magic. You can still manage to eat more than your body needs in 8 hours while eating "clean".

I am aware of what it is... I am basically interested on those who have tried it and their thoughts. I am desperate as I have been struggling with hypothyroidism and no matter what I do I gain... I read the science on it and it seems reasonable, just curious if anyone has had success.

There's no science to it. You can lose weight eating all day or eating in an 8 hour period. You can lose weight on a very restrictive diet or eating whatever you want. Counting calories is the most important factor to weight loss. Next comes activity, then macro nutrients. I know that many people with thyroid issues find lower carbohydrate intake has helped them. Medications work even better to keep thyroid issues in check.

This! If you have hypothyriodism make sure you are on the right dose of your medication! That could make a huge difference! Eat at a moderate deficit...weigh and measure everything that goes in your mouth.

Regarding my thyroid, as my levels are "normal", the doctors do not want to do anything with my dosing although I still have symptoms and weight gain... they do not understand there is a difference between "normal" and optimal and they are only interested in TSH value, not the other values... very unfortunate for sure.

Of note, I do limit carbs and work out 6 days a week, running every other day and doing weight training the other days. Perhaps age has something to do with it... All I know is I am beyond frustrated with my lack of progress.

That is pretty much how i eat. 16:8 IF, the vast majority of foods are whole, unprocessed. I do not log or track. It works for me.

It's just 16:8IF, which many people here do. It's not a weight loss plan by itself though, so you still have to figure out your calorie deficit and then follow that within your eating window (so if your calorie goal is 1,500 a day, you'd eat your 1,500 calories within your 8 hour window).

I did a different version of IF for my weight loss phase, which did have a deficit component built in, and then after I transitioned into maintenance I switched to 16:8IF. Love doing it and will probably do it for the rest of my life, but I still have to watch my calorie intake :)

Yes, I do realize I also need to make good, clean food choices and eat my allotted calories. Sounds like it worked for you Sara! Good job.. I am just desperate for something to work... all the regular watch what I eat and exercise is not cutting it for this hypothyroid/menopausal body so hoping to shake things up a bit.

Well I definitely didn't eat 'clean' and still don't-ate fast food several times a week while in active weight loss mode and continue to do so now in maintenance, because I like it :) At the end of the day-calories and math, rinse and repeat!
