Protein shake & increased heart rate?

Been doing this "lifestyle change" for about 6 mths and learning as I go. I've got the eating right part down. Since I'm not the most aggressive person in regards to exercise, it's been a personal challenge lately. I recently cleaned up my diet to get the scale moving again, and committed to meeting macros and increasing protein as much as possible.

Since I'm not a big breakfast eater, I bought Gladiator meal replacement product at smoothie king and make a shake every morning for breakfast now.

I've been drinking this shake four days in a row, and increasing protein other ways. I'm noticing a strange trend with my body. My resting heart rate (not sure on actual rate) seems elevated. I find myself breaking out in cold sweats for no reason, and feel like I'm under a heat lamp sometimes. Some insomnia and anxiety as well.

It's all bearable, and not making me ill - but unusual for me. Granted, I'm 48 and probably hitting the dreaded menopausal hot-flash-phase-of-life, but I didn't notice this until I started the shakes and increased my protein intake.

Did some random googling about amino acids, and but can't lock down any concrete links between protein shakes, and increased HR.

Has anyone experienced this? Do you know if certain protein powders have a bigger influence on heart rate?

Another thing worth mentioning here is I've been plateaued for months, and I've dropped 2 lbs in 10 days....so something is working. Just not sure I like this fluttery feeling I've been getting.

Elevated heart rate, shakiness, and cold sweats are all symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Perhaps you need to add some carbs back into your diet. As a diabetic on insulin it's something I experience from time to time

Hmmm, I've been averaging about 150g /day (+/- a few) but has me wondering. I read somewhere that some of these amino acids (in the protein drink) can assist in insulin resistance, which I have. According to blood work a while back, I had an elevated level of insulin at fasting just floating around unused. If my body is starting to actually "use" all that extra insulin, then maybe my BS are dropping because I'm not used to being efficient. Maybe this is an adjustment to eating right and getting better nutrition.

I could do without the hot flashing at work, LOL.... next time it happens, I'll grab a hard candy and see what happens.
