My arm has been bothering me.

Okay, first thing is first. My arm does not hurt, that is not the problem here. It feels like a string is twitching in my forearm closer to my elbow on my left arm. I have no idea if this is a vain or what it is, but I'll lay out what has been going on.
I am doing a seven day cleanse (currently on day four where things start getting a little heartier!). I have been doing mostly strength training because I am eating less than what I am used to. I didn't want to lose a lot of muscle mass, so I decided to go easier on the cardio and do more strength training. As of yesterday my arm has been doing the...stringy twitchy...thing. It only bothers me when I am doing any sort of strength training for my arms. Swimming or using a hand bike do not make my arm twitch. I have not had a rest day since I started the cleanse.
Is it just a matter of allowing myself to rest? Has anyone ever had this happen to them before?

Hi:
Try stop the cleansing, see if it the twitching goes away.
Your liver should be enough to cleanse your body, most of the people do not need "cleanses"
Good luck0 -
The twitching may be your body telling you the cleanse has messed up your fluid and electrolyte balance. Muscles contract and relax smoothly based on those levels being pretty exact. Our bodies are usually great at keeping those in the right levels but something like a cleanse, or a gastrointestinal bug, can cause us to eliminate like crazy - stuff we need and don't need alike. I would stop the cleanse before it progresses - the heart is a muscle as well and when your electrolytes get too far out of balance your heart can twitch as well - otherwise known as an arrythmia, which can be dangerous. Support your body in its normal functions instead of trying to override them - you'll be better off!0

Cleanse, and no rest days?
Step 1: Get off the cleanse - now. They don't actually do anything - some are, in fact, harmful.
Step 2: Take a rest day. Today, tomorrow, maybe both.
Step 3: If things don't get better fairly quickly after steps 1 and 2, get thee to a doctor.0 -
You're probably either dehydrated or dipping too low on calories (or both). Your diary isn't open, unfortunately.
If you are in a calorie deficit and not getting enough protein to maintain a positive nitrogen balance, you'll inevitably begin to lose muscle mass.
MFP isn't a great place to find support for cleanses...it's all about sustainable, healthy eating and exercise habits. If you're dead-set on finishing your cleanse, then I'd recommend checking out some stickied or popular threads around the forums while you tough it out, and get some ideas for healthier alternatives over the next few weeks/months/etc.0
