lifting with no power rack

I'm looking to start a lifting program, I have access to everything at home it seems but a power rack. Is there any way around it, or something I can do in place of squats? I hope to scoop one up later this year, but am at a place where I really would love to lift and very slowly drop weight. Any advice is appreciated!

Following. I recently picked up a cheap bench and extra weights, but no power rack. (The bench has the supports for the chest press, but it's not really the right height/accessibility to squat.) At least I can do real deadlifts now!

Buy a power rack or just risk it? Or use DBs instead for a little while? Can do more difficult squat variants like pistol squats or split squats. Add some DBs/KBs and they can be pretty tough.

That's kind of what I figured. I had been dumbbell squatting, holding them up by my shoulders, but I was starting to be able to squat heavier than my arms could safely hold, without help from my back/shoulders. At least it started to feel unsafe. I'll have to play around with a temporary solution until I have space/money for a rack. Guess the OP probably will too. :)

Thanks! Can do split squats, and I can add dumbbells to that, I just dont want to miss out or screw up the balance of things.

I'm in the exact same situation, determined_14, my husband has the same equipment in our garage, but he doesn't use it so much as he does circuits.
