My steps are not the same?

my dairy is showing like 13,000 steps but I have only gotten 10,000. When I open the app the the quick look shows the same as my iPhone 6... Not sure what's going on... I have had no other issues except for one last week when the steps stop syncing at noon at 1,600 steps and not the 18,000 I did that day. It also never updates. Please any ideas how to fix?
