Go to zumba.com to find a class by you. Or if you belong to a gym, just show up for one of their zumba classes. I love zumba...its my main source of cardio and I burn between 500 and 850 calories per hour depending on the instructor.

Find a class nearby. Start slowly and modify if you need to. By modify I mean don't jump as much or just follow the foot movements at first, then try to add arm movements. At the gym I go to, there are a variety of Zumba instructors, and they each have a very different style, which makes it fun and interesting. I'm sweating buckets and panting like crazy when done, and love every minute of it!

What she said ^^. I LOVE Zumba!! The most fun you will ever have burning 600 cals. I use my HRM to track burn. 600 is my high 350 is my low. Keep counting. Everything is usually four counts, practice your moves. The moves tend to be the same just different patterns for each song. And if you don't like an instructor, keep trying because there are a million out there. You can also practice with "Just Dance" video game to get used to anticipating and following moves lol

I am a certified instructor and agree with everything posted here. Zumba is an effective form of cardio. I would definitely take it slow and modify moves if you need to so that you do not injure yourself. You may feel frustrated during your first class because it is a very different experience. But I always tell my newbies to try zumba at least three times before completely giving up. After you go to classes repeatedly the moves become easier and you can often anticipate what the instructor might do next.

    Enjoy!! It is a blast.
