exercising while pregnant!

So according to two pregnancy tests, I'm pregnant for the first time! My first appointment is on Tuesday. I'm wondering what kind of exercise I can do in my first trimester. I can't be only more than a month at this point. I had started NROL4W and C25K.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Don't start any new exercises that you haven't been doing. Nothing that makes you strain too hard. Stay away from anything that jars the body. Don't do exercises that require you to lie flat on your back.
My SO and I just got back form the doctor's appt today - that's what we were told0 -
Ask your doctor. I believe you can do things you've been doing before, but wait for a doctor's confirmation.0

Anything you were doing before getting pregnant is fine to continue, until you feel like you cannot do it anymore. This is assuming you have a normal, uncomplicated pregnancy. I was very active (heavy lifting and lots of cardio) until the day I gave birth to my last. She was a perfectly healthy 9lbs 2oz full term baby.
Listen to your body and dont overdo it. If you continue to exercise you will likely have an easier labor/delivery and a faster recovery.
Congrats!0 -
I've never been pregnant so I can't say for certain but I know there are some pregnancy websites that l list some light safe exercises. But yeah your doctor would know more of course
But CONGRATS again!!!0 -
Congratulations! This is ancient history (DS is 28), but I exercised through my entire pregnancy. I ran in the beginning, then started bicycling because it seemed to beat my body up less. (I still don't like running very much.) I'd been bicycling since I was a kid, so it wasn't new to me. I was pedaling around for about an hour a day (7-8 miles, maybe) up to and including the night before DS was born. I felt fantastic. DS was born the day before his due date and was just a bit under 7 lbs. I recovered pretty quickly but not as quickly as my mother who had 5 kids and said she never wore maternity clothes home form the hospital.
Do listen to your doctor, but listen to your body, too.0 -
Congrats!
Definitely get the okay from your doctor before you do/continue anything.
I found out I was pregnant at 4 1/2weeks, and by the time I was 8 weeks for my first OB appt. I had horrid morning sickness. My doc told me I could continue doing anything I was doing before getting pregnant - which was running 5K distances - but I felt so terrible early on that didn't happen. I ended up waiting until 4 months postpartum.
If you just started doing the C25K you may likely be able to keep doing the distance you were at, but it may not be advised to push yourself to complete it until baby comes. But only take your doctor's word.0 -

Question. I signed up for a 5k in 2 weeks and a 5k in September....I am only on week 2 of c25k but felt like I wasn't pushing very hard. Today I POAS and got a positive, so will test again tomorrow, but if I am pregnant, should I not be moving on or pushing for these 5k's? Of course I will ask my DR but seeing as I don't even have an apt yet it will probably be after the first 5k before I can talk to him.0 -
Pregnant with my third son, I went to spinning classes twice week until my seventh month (where he kicked the living daylights out of my kidney's to protest) But I had been spinning and biking for over a year and was in fabulous shape (20 pounds lighter then I am NOW).
Yeah, check with your doc and then do whatever you've been doing.0 -

This, exactly. When I was pregnant, I told my doc that i'd been running, doing plyometrics and lifting heavy. She told me that was awesome and to keep it up as long as I was comfortable. If you aren't supposed to be doing it, your body will tell you (I remember benching flat on my back until one day I wanted to throw up after doing it...so I knew I hit the point where I couldn't be flat on my back)0 -
You can keep doing whatever you have already been doing. I would start anything extra stenuous. I ran every week while pregnant all the way to my 6th month and I did brisk walking until I gave birth. My labor was extremely easy and my stomach went back flat after 6 weeks my second child I was a lazy *kitten* lol. My labor was a lot harder and finally close to 4 years later I am finally getting into better shape. Stay active, you're pregnant not handicap. With all that said be sure and discuss your fitness with your OB. Congratulations!!0

Congrats! I am pregnant as well with our 3rd baby. With my DD (my 1st born) I never exercised and weighted over 210 lbs. My midwife was all over my *kitten* about healthy eating and exercise, I didn't want to do it, but I did it anyway and when I went into labor, I didn't even realize I was in labor, because I had been exercising so my muscles were used to it. With my DS, I was roughly 200 lbs. (size 18-20), exercised regularly and ran a 5k daily. The Doc gave me the okay to keep going with what I was doing, so I ran up until about 20 weeks, then I switched to light aerobics. I only put on 15 lbs. with him and was 10 lbs. lighter post partum. With this baby, I eat healthy, exercise regularly, weight 190 lbs. (size 12-14) and I'm 12 weeks along and maintaining my weight.
Exercise and eating healthy is what you make of it when you're pregnant. Keep going with it. When it comes to C2k, keep at it. Run the run/walk interval you are most comfortable even if it takes you 45 minutes to complete the 5k. At least you are doing it.
Once again, congrats and best of luck!0
