  • Depends on how much you're working out. Carbohydrates are a kind of sugar so if you're sedentary your body converts it to fat. However, carbs are your main energy source (protein is what your body uses to build muscle) so it's important to have a good amount of both before workouts so you have the energy. But to answer your question: eat carbs if you're doing workouts like running or weight lifting, but if you're just sitting around eating potatoes and noodles then cut the carbs. In addition, try replacing refined starches with ones that are less processed. Whole grains contain the germ which has all the nutrients, however when these grains are processed (like white flour) the germ is removed and it doesn't contain the nutrients.

You can lose fat on an all carb diet if you like.

What some people still don't seem to understand is that fat loss is all about a calorie deficit, not macros. Macros are for health.

I'm vegetarian, so I tend to eat a higher percentage of carbs than a lot of posts on here would recommend for "ideal" fat loss, but I've never had any trouble shedding the weight. As stated the macro setpoints are to make sure you get enough of needed nutrients for health and energy, not for weight loss.

i don't agree with that, calorie dificit with only carbs will only allow you to lose weight. Carbs, protein, and fats all do different things in our bodies. Carbs = energy and are muscle sparing, protein = rebuild muscle, and fats = regulate hormones. Depends how your body response to carbs, you can still gut toned while eating carbs.
