rest days...sort of??

So i started a 30 challenge than includes squats planks and crunches. Tomorrow is supposed to be the rest day. Today was my rest day from the elliptical and my arm/free weight exercises. Is it ok if i either A- work on the elliptical and do my free weights but not my challenge tomorrow or should i B- rest tomorrow again on everything? Would it be ok to do my elliptical and free weight rest days every three days like it is on my challenge? I know rest days are important and typically i think if you do weight related stuff its one day on one day off (i think?Or at least thats what my hubby used to do). Some clarification and/or guidance would be wonderfil!!



Please no snarky comments....i am legitimately looking for guidance. thanks!!

    Most workouts schedule yourself a rest day, that's a day for your body to recover from the beating you have been giving it. If your fitness level is telling you to workout, and your body is up for the task then workout!!!!!!!! I do high Intensity Interval Training, and on my rest day's I usually run!!!!!
