Such a thing as too much protein?

I have heard (from a doctor) that too much protein can cause yeast overgrowth. How much is too much? And are there other risks? I've hardly ever heard "too much protein" mentioned. I don't think I am in any danger of consuming too much ahah but I just wanted some other thoughts on it! Nothing I can find on the internet is ultra-clear, as per usual.

Beyond this, I want to say that I have read a few opinions from researchers that one's body could become accustomed in utilizing protein as a preferred energy source (assuming the lack of fats and carbs in lieu of protein) over time because that's what it has an abundance of. So if the body is preferring to use protein for energy over carbs or fats, then other proteins in the body are more available for energy too (i.e... Muscle). Have nothing to provide to back this up, just going off of memory.

I'm interested in this as well.. I'm 5'1 107lbs and usually eat between 120-140g of protein a day with no real effort.. its just how I like to eat.

Yes, interested to follow. I read several times on the internet that too much protein is not healthy, or at least; it has not been proved that a lot of protein is actually healthy, or what long-term health effects are. I was eating pretty balanced but just started a low-fodmap diet for my IBS, and I'm eating way more protein and less carbs now (Part of it is gluten-free, lactose-free etc) so interested to see how this will affect my weight loss.

Interesting read, thanks for sharing :) It's a relief at least!
