    Enter your profile into MFP and eat to the suggested calorie goal .

    You need to work out your TDEE; your BMR is how many calories you would burn if you just lay around all day. Your TDEE also takes into account your activity level, so find that and subtract 500. That will be the recommended daily amount of calories for you to lose 1lb a week.

    You have to multiply it by a factor to get your TDEE (I know if you're sedentary it's 1.2, but I can't remember the numbers for higher activity levels) and then take 20% off. Easier to go to a place like scoobysworkshop.com and have them calculate that amount for you.

    That depends on your activity level.

    TDEE = BMR + NEAT + exercise

    Total daily energy expenditure = basal metabolic rate (i.e., coma calories) + non-exercise activity thermogenesis (i.e., non-exercise activity calories) + exercise

    Ok, thanks will try and work it out, I've been on 1200 calories a day, going over when my fit pal gives me more when I do more walking, been feeling so low in energy but when I up my calories I don't loose much weight...so annoying!

    How heavy are you, how tall, and how much do you want to lose? Maybe you've entered a far too unrealistic weight loss goal? And btw, what kind of exercise do you do and how do you estimate those calories?

    I'm 5ft 3 and weigh 12st 11, so I need to loose 3 more stone really. I try to walk 10 thousand steps a day, go on a gentle bike ride a couple of times a week and I do have a two hour cleaning job every night, I don't do any heavy cadio or weight training, the more active I am the more calories my fit pal gives me.

    I'd put "sedentary" and see what that gets you. I have that listed as my level because I have a desk job.
