BMR and 1200 calories

Options
hi
I'm wanting to lose 2lbs a week but I have done a BMR test which shows mine at about 1500 calories. So if I eat 1200 calories like MFP recommends that's only 300 calories down which in a week is only 2100 calories which isn't even a pound. I plan on doing an hours walk which 5 times a week which might up my calorie loss to a pound but how will I ever lose 2 lbs per week!!!!

Unless you lie in a coma your entire week, you will burn more than your BMR.

Unless you don't eat at all, you will burn more than BMR.

MFP will not recommend a daily intake lower than 1200 because it's not considered safe from a health perspective, meaning we won't get the nutrients our body needs. For those of us who are shorter/older/female this means we must content ourselves with slower weight loss (at least as I understand it... perhaps consulting a professional or going on a medically supervised diet could healthily shave off a few more calories?). Just as an example I'm 5'3" and I can "safely" lose .8lb per week on 1200 calories.
On the up side of being short (if you happen to be), you will notice a 3-5lb loss on yourself much more than on someone who is 6' tall... small consolation perhaps, but it is what it is.
