When do you start to reap the benefits?

This is week 5 of my workout...I have been fast walking on the treadmill at a 4.0 pace, 3.0 incline for 3.1 miles daily and it takes me a little under 15min/mile. I do 30 minutes of elliptical 5 min. on level 1, 10 min. on level 2 and 15 minutes on level 3. I do about 150 jump ropes (just started last week), crunches and a little weight lifting. I have played two rounds of golf this week for over 3 hours each night in the heat (95 degrees tonight). I stay below my calories, changed my diet drastically and have lost 6 pounds but when do you start to notice the change in your body? I still have a pretty hefty middle and thought my crunches would help but haven't seen a lot. I guess I am just getting to antsy but this week I have worked my butt off and hoping at the end of the week I see another pound or two fall of the scales.

Thanks for listening to me whine....

Noticing the differences visually is different for everybody. Try taking pictures of yourself in the same position wearing the same thing once a week and compare them. It's easier to tell that way than by staring in the mirror everyday.

For me personally, I started noticing changes after about 6-8 weeks or so of dedicated work. I do 4 days of weight lifting and 2 days of cardio a week.

Honestly, it took a while to actually see changes. I believe it was somewhere between 3-4 months of consistent workouts AND correct eating. I think even longer for others to see a difference. Maybe around the 20-25lb loss mark.

That being said, I did reap other benefits much sooner! Sleeping better, get stronger, faster, more confidence, feeling better overall.

Hang in there & don't stop!

Back when I was doing P90 I took before and after photos after the first 30 days and I could definitely see a difference. It helps to take measurements too. The scale may not budge much, but you still may be losing fat because you are also gaining muscle at the same time. That's where the measurements will come in to help you see the difference. Good luck!

Each person is different, start a photo diary. What I did was wore the same clothes in the same area of my house.

One lesson I had to learn was to determine the right calorie intake with the right calories burned per day. When I first started my weight loss I was extremely strict with myself and I found I was struggling. I loosened up some and have felt and seen a lot more positive results. According to my homepage I have lost 33 pounds but I had lost an additional 30 pounds before joining MFP. I have not started any strength training yet due to a few surgeries I had to have but I do cardiovascular 7 days per week.

Keep up the good work! :)

weight usually comes off your belly, sides, and lower back, last. You'll usually see your legs and arms getting trimmer first... the most rapid visual changes are when you approach a healthy weight

First off, you can't spot reduce, so crunches aren't specifically going to reduce your tummy - fat loss will. Everyone is different on where they lose the weight first.

It's been said before, but good to remember “It takes 4 weeks for you to notice your body changing, 8 weeks for your friends to notice, and 12 weeks for the rest of the world to notice."

Stick with it, you're doing great!

I love the quote, a lot of truth in that statement!

As for the spot reduction, I am doing the crunches not to lose my belly per say but to tighten it. I have noticed some small changes as when I bought a new tshirt and it fit pretty snug when I bought it but noticed the other day even after drying it, it was loose. I have noticed a 1" loss around my middle so I must be losing some but you are right, the pounds coming off the scale are scarce but I notice my legs, thighs and glutes getting extremely tighter, hence the treadmill and elliptical...

    Thanks for the encouragement!

my gut is my problem area also and I didn't start seeing differences there until about 20 pounds in! Other areas (legs, arms, back, face) I noticed subtle changes over time... gotta stick with it!
