I understand needing to lose because of your condition, but I don't understand the deadline. What happens in 6 months if you've only lost, say, 30 or 40 lbs?0

You should eat/diet according to a diabetic diet. Did your doctor recommend any diabetic classes? If not, call your nearest hospital to see if they have any. Also, keep in mind that exercising lowers blood sugar, so be sure to eat healthy proteins and keep food close when you're exercising in case of a quick blood sugar drop.
I also want to know what happens if you don't lose 50lbs in 6 months.0 -
This sounds like he should have put you on a supervised medical weight loss diabetic plan. And give you access to a nutritionist and/or dietician.
I too don't understand the deadline but more importantly a deadline where a doctor did not put in contact with the right resources.0 -
About a month ago I too was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and I also have 100 pounds to lose. . The first thing I did was research "the super foods to eat when you're a diabetic". There is a lot of info out there in regards to diabetes and the proper meal plans. You should have been given one of the blood glucose monitors where you poke yourself and you can track how your body responds to the the different type of foods you eat. As someone else already said exercise also plays a big part in controlling diabetes so also start looking into an exercise plan that would work for you and something that you know you can stick to. If you're like me you're gonna have to make some big changes to lose the weight and get to an overall healthy lifestyle. Feel free to add me as a friend and even take a look at my food diary to get ideas on a meal plan. I'm going the whole foods route which includes lean proteins, nuts, lots of veggies, fresh fruit and water. I've cut out all the sodas and processed foods. You need to find a healthy meal plan that makes you feel good about what you're doing, helps you to lose weight and something you know you can stick to.0
