Count the number of calories you went over each day and see if you ate more than 3500 calories total over your "maintance" calories to gain weight.. 3500 calories = 1 pound..

    Ah overeating. Gotcha.

As you have lost 32lbs you would need to overeat by 500 cals for approximately 224 days, or approximately 112 days if you managed to overeat by 1000 cals a day.

I don't think you can really set a rule. It's frustratingly random, in the short term. I weigh daily . . . last week I started gaining, and was getting frustrated because it was so random; I hadn't really changed anything. After several days of this, I got really frustrated and overate for a day (by less than 1000 calories). BAM! THAT is the day that I lost everything I had gained, plus some. This kind of stuff is really, really frustrating (and probably the reason that daily weighing is not necessarily a good idea)

I've never noticed it in terms of weight (unless it's a lot of salt). I go by the week. It's not unusual for me to be over 300-500 calories once a week, but the other days I'm under a few hundred so I'm always under for the week.

For me, since I lost 51 lbs it would take 178 - 357 days.

Is exercise calculated into the net calories?
