Hi does anyone know if it's possible to lose weight whilst on the implant? Since having it I have put on 3 stone in 2 years without dramatically changing my diet, I moved around a lot less bug not a significant amount to equal 3 stone. I just want to know whether I should remove it and begin my weight loss journey or try again with it still in. I've tried so many different things to lose weight and I've just gained gained gained. HELP !!!

Not sure what implant you're talking about, but if you're eating more calories than your body needs, yes, you
will gain weight. Doesn't matter what medical condition is involved.
The only thing you need to do to lose weight, the ONLY thing that works, is to eat less than your body needs.

Here's a newbie help post I did which compiles links to lots of useful info, including sexypants (go read it now)
((yes, _now_)), setting realistic goals, accurate logging...

I lost 25kg (50ish lbs) with the implant. It might (and I mean might, the scientific jury is still out) make it harder but it sertainly cannot and won't make it impossible.

Like Nexplanon for birth control? I have that. I've lost 15lbs in 41 days accurately logging and tracking on MFP. SO it can be done. You can't gain weight out of thin air, you HAD to have been eating too much. HOWEVER, due to hormones it could have held onto more weight than before, since you say your diet didn't change. I'd talk with your doctor and see if your hormones are where they should be.
I had an IUD, and it was horrific. I became anemic and could never sleep longer than 30 mins at a time. So for me personally the Nexplanon is a god-send. I also did Depo Provera and I gained a TON of weight, but I was eating way WAAAAAAAY too much.

If it's working for you and fitting your lifestyle as a preferred method, then it doesn't seem worth it to have it out. You can still lose with it. Hormonal meds might mess with your appetite and water retention, but won't stop you from losing. I've been on the pill since '08 and have lost 27 lbs since January. I've been gaining weight forever so I don't think the pill had anything to do with it.

Sorry, but it doesn't stop you losing weight or make you gain. It can make you hungrier, certainly does for me (as does pregnancy and breastfeeding, stay), but it doesn't change cico. I lost 20kg with implanon, and once I'd gotten my eating under control I lost weight at the expected rate, if not a bit faster.

Thank you guys for the advice I've had to reevaluate the last few years and yes there were many times when I ate for the sake of eating and probably ate more than my body could handle. However it has had other negative effects which I've brushed to the side like terrible mood swings, depression, heart palpitations. I may speak with my doctor before removing just to get some perspective. At the moment I'm following MFP to the T so if I see results it may encourage me to keep the implant (btw I think I'm on nexplanon) my weight is very stubborn even if I lose 2 lbs I could put on 5 the next day. The only thing keeping me goinf is this community and my determination to have a healthy body again.

I had mine taken out 6 weeks ago and got a Mirena instead. i had Implanon for over 10 years, and in the end it was causing frequent random bleeds, and I thought contributing to mood swings. 6 weeks without and I'm very happy with the swap.

I can totally understand getting rid of it for other reasons. I only realised after I'd had it out (for other reasons) for a while that I wasn't getting migraines anymore... and then realising that they started around the time I got the implant.
