TDEE/Calorie Goal from Another Angle...

Got to thinking... If I made my calorie goal what Maintenance/TDEE would be for my goal weight, and stuck to it pretty good, would I just eventually become that weight over time?
Thoughts?

I guess so. My MFP calories have me at 1560 to lose 2 lbs a week, If I ate at my goal weight tdee i'd be at 2141, and that would be about 1lb a week loss. So I guess it technically could work.0

Theoretically yes...though the weight loss will be slower. It is basically what I do while still allowing a 1/2lb deficit to balance out any logging errors.

It's appealing to me, because then I could set right in on determining how I'm going to eat for good, rather than "for weight loss"... (though really, how I've been eating is pretty much how I intend to eat, +/- whatever)0

Yes, but your weight loss slows to a crawl as you near your goal weight. There is also the problem that your TDEE is not a constant.0

Since I am close to my goal (5-10lbs away) I think I could be ok with a crawly loss... though my boozing on the weekends (and ok, sometimes weeknights) would possibly sabotage me... Then again, I don't intend on cutting alcohol from my consumption when I'm at goal/maintenance anyways, so it would do me well to work out how it's going to fit in...

Your TDEE is not a constant regardless of how you lose your weight. If your weight stalls before you reach goal weight then you know that you will have to lower maintenance calories by a few more.
Chances are at my age and activity level maintenance will be somewhere around 1800. I am eating up to 1600 now. Yes...it will be slow. I allow most of my exercise to create a little more deficit only eating back when I have done some higher intensity interval work and then only about 1/2 of that in order to compensate for inaccurate burn calculations.
Like the OP...I just wanted to figure what and how much I will be eating when I hit goal weight. How fast that I lose it is not high on my list. I want to focus more on creating a more healthy eating and activity plan.
