Why Track Calories if You are Active?

What is the raison d'être for tracking? I do not miss a gym day unless I am almost dead, but logging in and tracking calories is another story. I did it for a bit, but then just began repeating my meals without logging them. I have been losing bodyfat with very minimal lean mass suffering by keeping protein up and calories in deficit.
