I'm 43 and decided to go on my first diet.....ever. I weighed 315lbs when I graduated high school, and weighed 329 four weeks ago when I weighed in to start the diet. So 14 lbs over 25 years, not bad.
I am on my 4th week. I've not set a goal, as I don't want to be disapointed if i don't reach it. I have decided to weigh in every two weeks, which is tough, but the reward is I get to see a bigger number come off when I do weigh.
My first weigh in after 2 weeks was a loss of 16 lbs. Surprised the hell out of me! I weigh in again next Tuesday. I think I will be below 300, or at least I feel like it when I see how lose my clothes are.
I'm not following any specific program. There are certain things I do that are working. I stopped drinking soda. I've not had anything else to drink other than water for the past 4 weeks. Not a drop of anything else.
I also eat more often. Maybe 4 or 5 times per day. In between meals are a bag of almonds and a piece of fruit or something similar.
My other rule was not to exceed 2,000 calories per day, and as of now I have averaged 1500 per day.
The first few days were tough. I thought about food non stop. Now it rarely crosses my mind and I need to make a conscious effort to eat or the day slips away and I don't end up with enough calories.
I've not added any exercise to my plan. I do try to park farther away and walk stairs instead of the elevator.
For now, I am not spending an money on food programs or gym memberships. It's all will power and self conscienceness.
I have a couple of theories on successful weight loss, which I will post after my weigh in next Tuesay.
Good luck to everyone, 6 months is a small time out of your life to become more healthy. Take it one day at a time.
