My wonderful children gave me a fitbit flex for mothers day. What im wondering is, do i still need to log my exercise on myfitnesspal ? I dont want to be doubling it up when it syncs.

I never did figure out how to sync my flex with MFP. I just use the flex to track my sleeping patterns, and track my walks at the park. The rest, I use MFP. There is a tutorial on fitbit.com that will guide you through everything. Good luck.

    Connect your accounts: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/fitbit

    Enable negative calorie adjustments: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

No need to log any step-based activity, since Fitbit is tracking it for you. Log non-step exercise (like swimming or biking) either in Fitbit it in MFP—never both.

You can learn more (and find friends) in the Fitbit Users group: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1290-fitbit-users

Ok thanks. What's the difference with swimming/biking? Does it not read those movements?

Unless you specifically have the waterproofed Flex, don't swim with it. I have one, and wear it on my ankle to count kicks (you can also wear it on your ankle while biking; doesn't get every movement but enough) but I learned the hard way with a non-waterproofed Fitbit that even in a baggy, it can die.

Activity trackers track step-based activity, like walking, running, dancing… Non-step exercise (including yoga, skiing, lifting…) must be logged. Either in Fitbit (that's what I do) or in MFP—never both. Exercise logged in MFP overwrites your Fitbit burn during that time.

MFP announced they're having step problems. This has actually been ongoing since May 5: http://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/1984935--trouble-with-step-tracking-functionality-
