i have lost 2 stone 1 pound, by sticking to the diet and logging daily, and I feel wonderful, however am now going backwards, I haven't changed anything, continuing with the same diet, logging daily, but this week hadn't lost anything which I know can happen, however this morning I got on the scales and put 3 pounds on, how can that be, the only thing I did differently yesterday was have one slice of bread which I calculated into my 1200 a day allowance, I'm really worried as still have 2 stone to loose, also tonight a friend is coming to take me out for an Indian meal, which I don't normally eat, but thought I would treat myself to one night out, but now I really don't want to go, as feeling deflated about my 3 pound gain, I am 54, height 5ft 7in current weight now 14stone 9 pounds, should I take my calorie intake down to 10000 a day ?

It's almost certainly water weight. Don't stress out over it.

Have you been low carb? If you introduce carbs your water weight comes back but it's not a biggy

Also sodium, change-up in exercise and hormones will affect day to day scale weights

Water weight naturally fluctuates - do not let it freak you out - I'm up 4lb on beginning of week cos of imminent period and DOMS

No you absolutely should not take your calories down to 1000

Perhaps you should download one of the trendweight apps like happyscale or Libra - or if you have a fitbit / withings scale use trendweight.com

and only look at weight over weeks and months
