I enjoy eating quinoa but for whatever reason, every single time I try to cook it, it doesn't come out well. I cook it according to package instructions and it still tastes raw and tough. What am I doing wrong? Is there a trick?

No, I haven't rinsed it. Last night I tried to make this boxed quinoa and brown rice blend I bought from the store. I guess I'll try both rinsing and adding a little more water next time.

CM, Thanks for the Link as well- lots of helpful input! :)

I use my rice cooker I just adapt it to the water/quinoa ratio. Works really well, I can't cook grains/seeds/lentils worth crap they always turn out undercooked or mushy if I try do do in microwave or stovetop

Mine always turns out dry, never mushy. A coworker actually suggested using the microwave and said it comes out perfectly every time that way.

It is supposed to be a little firm when it's done. Or maybe I just like it that way? I usually add a little olive oil or sauce of some kind because it will dry out when it sits out.

It was quite lengthy for such a simple question wasn't it!

    You're welcome, hope it helped!

The microwave idea sounds interesting, always handy to be able to cook something nutritious, quickly, when getting in late from work.
